Off to Basic I Go!

I fly out for basic training on June 10th, 2024. This last week will be spent packing, preparing myself as best as I am able mentally and physically, and saying farwell to the wonderful relationships I have cultivated here. It's crazy to realize that I've lived in Austin, TX almost equally as long as my time spent in Portland, OR! Just a year shy. Portland has my heart over Austin, but I have experienced some pretty huge rites of passage here in Texas that I will always be grateful for my time spent here.

As with all alchemists, transformation comes with the territory. This particular transformation will be no-less comfortable than all the metmorphing from my previous years. And lezbe-honest, it will likely be more alien and unlike anything I've ever experienced. If you're wondering how I'm feeling about it all, I have no qualms in admitting that I am totally scared, fully ready, excited, and filled with dread. LOL. It's a potent, chemical-soup of feelings, to be sure. But one I welcome as a necessity, and will ride it out, welcoming all the challenges and triumphs ahead.

May my vessel open to these changes, remain supple and pliable to all required of me, and may I rise to the top in equal or greater measure to my peers through this next chapter of life. I give thanks to all who participated, aided, supported, and guided me through this prepetory phase of the journey. It bore many challenges, and I feel immense gratitude to have made it through thus far. I know I am a powerful and capable woman, a giver of light, love, and laughter, and I weave/pray that my gifts are welcomed and utilized to a nourishing degree for all in the years ahead.

I'll be in touch as soon as I am able, but I believe this will be my last blog post until I complete both my basic training and Advanced Individual Training for my job (the next four months).

Many Blessings to All of You, and may you find courage in your respective journies,

Niene
