Drawing on the Power of Change

Buckle-up Buttercup! This Aerial-warrior journey has made a forced and abrupt pivot!

After two months of diligently working with my Air Force Recruiter, this dude tells me that I'm too old to join. WTCuss?! Wasn't meant to be I suppose, so I quickly had my boo-hoos, pulled up my big girl panties, and took this door closing as the exact sign I needed to get me to the path I'm meant to thrive on! So what did I do? I immediately went and visited the Navy! Same shpeal, only this time they could confirm my age issue upfront. Navy-Water-Witchin' was also a "no-go". So then I walked my determined-ass over to the Army recruiter next door!

Y'all, this Air Element, Air Force Angel, is now getting her Earth Witch on with the Army!

I had to start my application process all over again, and boy am I glad I went Army! There are sooo many more jobs to chose from and an abundance of more opportunities for me to advance over a twenty-year period! I am stoked! Plus, my recruiter is awesome! If you are in the local area and need a good recruiter, ping me and I'll refer you to him!

In the short amount of time that I've been working with him, I have:

  • CRUSHED my ASVAB test, earning an incredible score that will allow me to choose any available job I want

  • am in the process of getting registered for my Medical exam down in San Antonio

  • completed and sent my letter to the board requesting they grant me an age waiver so I can enlist (the Army DOES take people my age, provided they are granted an age waiver...my recent test scores should definitely HELP with their decision!)

  • Replaced my Long Blue hair with some sassy new brunette/auburn locks

  • Threw my belly-button ring in the garbage (LOL)

  • And wait for it y'all..... I can now do a PUSH UP! Woot Wooot!!!

The Army's Basic Training and PT test requirements are NO JOKE! They are significantly more difficult than the Air Force's Standards! But, I am confident that with my brother's help, I will have my body well prepared for the challenges ahead and will pass basic training with flying colors!

Speaking of Colors, here's the Transformation of my Luscious Locks! As much as I loved my Blue Hair, and the limited days I spent rockin' "smurf-head", I think this latest color is my favorite I've ever had. It's a blend of raven black, dark chocolate brown, and a deep auburn. it's blended so incredibly well, that it looks 100% natural! I LOVE IT! I'm not crazy about how short my hair is, but it will grow back. I did not ask for my hair to be cut that short. Oh well, rolling with CHANGES!

I am so happy to be making this journey, to have worked so hard, and to have received such an outstanding score on my test today! I've been studying and training for 2.5 months now, and I'm finally starting to see the fruits of my labor; not just in my test score but in the progression of my application/enlistment process, and in my physical capabilities as well!

Thank you to all who are following this journey of mine and all the support you've lent me these last few months!

Blessed be,

Niene
